57 F600 steering column

Is there a simple way to tilt or angle the steering column forward a few inches? I am girth challenged and have already destroyed 1 shirt getting behind the wheel due to a crack in the steering wheel plastic. There is plenty of room for the steering wheel to be angled forward - it appears like I could cut the shaft of by the steering box , splice in a u-joint, fabricate a couple steering column supports and call it good. Does anyone have experience trying this before. Thanks

I think that the hot rodders use something like that for old trucks and cars. Flaming River is a manufacturer of aftermarket steering columns for Hot Rods that comes to mind.
