New Trailer!

Hi all. I just wanted to share that I just brought home my new Tahoe 30MS TT today. Wow. I had a little 19' Wanderer with the tent beds on the ends before this. Now I am towing 30' and have a super slide.

Off to Zion National Park this weekend to test her out and do some relaxing. I am looking forward to the drive to see how it really handles on the highway. I brought it home without the sway control hooked up and I didn't get much sway so I am looking forward to how it goes with everything hooked up. Should be a fun experience.

Look out for the Tahoe headed north on I15 out of Vegas...I may be getting crazy. Just kidding, I actually have some experience with big trailers (long long time ago).

Woo hoo.

Mike

Thumbs up New Trailer!

a Big Congrats on the new trailer. I know what its like to go to the first slide trailer. Boy what a diffrence. Don't get so excited that you forget to check the lugs about every 50 miles or so for the first pull. and watch for the heat in the hubs. its a good indicator that everything is working well. Have fun. Take a extra can of bug spray.

New Trailer!

Here is how I start to learn the towing limits on a new rig.

At progressively increasing speeds for each manuever, I evaluate these 5 handling characteristics and store the towing responses in a part of my driving brain:

1. Cornering stability
2. Response to braking in a turn
3. Response to throttle release in a turn
4. Transitional stability
5. High Speed stability

Most cross wind driving techniques are learn as you go, since you have to find a good wind and meet a couple 18 wheelers to see your rig's response.

All that other stuff like city traffic, backing up,
parking and looking like you know what you are doing
aint going to try to kill you. Congratulations on the new rig. We are all envious...
