Its just a matter of wiring and relacing the rear ford badging with one that has the camera. Dont know about programing the player or not if its necessary. I have the mirror camera and wish i had the nav/dvd setup.
I like the camera in mirror much better. I can see the camera and look in the mirror at the same time and my head is up where my eyes can look around (where your eyes should be while vehicle is moving). It's a design that is more compatible with the need to be observant of your surroundings while backing a vehicle. There is no way you can only rely on the camera, and looking down at the dash is a very good way to train your brain to not look around.
Good Point - I think Ill go with the reverse mirror -
Has anyone actually done this though ? Obviously it involves wiring and adding the camera and mirror..
Trying to find a writeup on the part numbers for wiring and where/if the wire already exists in the rear area of the bed !
My buddy had one of the aftermarket mirror/cameras put in his truck by a company that installs stereos and other equipment. He got references first, checked them, and then had the guy put the camera in. Excellent job, three year warranty, and no problems. Less than $350 out the door................
In Mass. I went to the local Auto Zone and for around $100 and about 30/45 minutes I had my BU camera installed. I aimed the camera down so I can see the top of the ball , I can be hooked in less than 1 minute. My camera mounts with the screws that hold the license plate on .
