well i sold the 52 customline a couple of days ago now . the proceeds of which i immediately spent on new fenders , all four , a new gravel pan , and a new bed kit from mar k . paid a couple of bills and still got some cash left of which some is going to buy much needed repair parts for my neglected beater bird , and a few more trinkets for the 53 . things have also straightened out too the point i have had the body shop start to finish the cab , and taking the doors and hood to them for the needed repairs and mods to them too . should be soon , after making the repairs to the bird , starting on my frame and suspension and picking up where i left off last fall , as well as soon taking the flatty down the rest of the way and taking it into the machine shop for a bit of rehab . it's amazing how fast one can go through a good sized chunk of change when buying things for ones metal girlfriend as the wife calls bessie .............
Too bad about the Customline, but it seemed to eat a lot of your time and money. Sounds like your priorities are lined up correctly! What's the status of the mega-flatty?
It kinda sucks that something has to go in order to proceed on something else but I'm glad to hear that the proceeds are making their way into other projects.
yep it does suck the 52 had to go , but as said it was eating up funds and time i should have been dedicating to bessie so ..... i do walk out in the garage every morning though and do miss it . she went to a good home though . a kid about the same age as my second daughter , 29 years old who has no real experience in the automotive world , but was eager to dive in as he is fascinated by the traditional rod scene . he came and got her and drove her from here to pontiac il with no apparent issues as i haven't heard from him . she was mechanically sound though so she should have made it there and even further . the mega flatty ross ....... well it's still just a dream . i am however going to take either the flatty that was in the 53 or the extra block and crank into the machine shop and get it bored , tanked etc. and hopefully get the crank stroked enough to make 248 cubes . this is also where the " list " comes into play as since i am spending god knows how much to customize the body and paint it etc. it might be awhile on it ........ welp gotta go look and see what i have left to spend and figure out what i want ...........
only partially back in the game jeff . dain work schedule , and being worn out on my days off has me in a rut right now . hopefully when the weather breaks and spring truly arrives here i'll have more drive ! less toys ? sheez i sold the 52 and 2 days later was eyeballing a 48 or 49 studebaker 3/4 ton truck that runs for 900 ....... thankfully i didn't !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man Kevin, I hope you didn't do the all time worse mistake in the world of old cars and trucks, tell your wife you sold something. If you did you better not have told her exactly what you got for it. That's a reeeeeal bad thing to do. With my wife it's the 10% syndrome. No matter what, when I sold something she always found a bill that was about 10% more than what I got for the part(s) I sold. Never failed, she could sense the amount. I used to feel guilty and would turn the money over to her but she did it so often that now I just let her find the money somewhere else to pay the bills. I never tell her when I sell something, if she somehow finds out I don't tell her the amount, I change the subject.
brenda knew what it got sold for , and she didn't ask for anything out of it . i did pay off one medical bill of 500 , then the rest got spent on the 53 .
Question why you think you need to stroke the crank to get to 248? That's by no means a "Mega Flathead"; it's only an .060 overbore on a 239. Even with a Merc 4.00" crank, it's only 266.".

You gotta keep the secrete car fund account private....
