Horrable idle

Ok I've been throwing a code for #3 cylinder compression balance. Idles rough and hesitates on initial acecleration than comes alive when you put aload on it. Smokes from white to black then clears. First rebuilt my FICM... no help, did continuity test on wiring harness...it's ok. Replaced injector...no help. Today I opened the valve cover and noticed a push rod was bent so I replaced both the rods on that cylinder... still no help. I'm thinking the worse at this point. Any suggestions? By the way It sounds like the intake is a muffler!

so did the old inject have a tip on it when you puled it out

sounds like somethings was in there or it hydrolocked to cause push tubes to bend

At minimum it needs a compression test on that cylinder

the Piston my have a Hole

Ouch, it reminds me of a 93 page rebuild I just glanced at!
And the other 15 page one!

With the intake sounding like a muffler I would suspect a valve issue you may have chipped a valve by ingesting something which can also account for the bent push rods.

Did a compression test and it is low on that cylinder. So whats next? Pull the head off?

On another note, when I replaced the push rods the ones that came out are longer than the ones that a ford dealer gave me. It seems that shorter rods would not allow the valves to open fully
