No Start No Click No Nothing

I started my 90 7.3 like normal (heavy pumping of throttle and cranking and cranking) and then it just died. Probably a air bubble. Cannot get to start! Installed a electric pump on a switch in the cab to operate before I crank. Getting fuel to rail. Went to try again after recharging the batteries and get nothing. NO click, No lights, Nothing. The only thing I get is the new fuel pump will make noise and the fuel gauge moves to normal. Nothing else on the whole truck will work. I cant check for spark because there is no plugs? I have before all this happend, replaced the fuel pump, filter, glow plugs, glow plug controller, and the wait to start light worked for the first time! Second time does not work again. All fuses under steering wheel good. Where do I start?

Battery connections. Neutral safety switch if it's an automatic.

I checked both batteries. over 12 in both. I put it in neutral thinking the same thing on the NSS but nothing. I still get no power to anything so that kinda rules out NSS.

fusible links could be blown, coming off of the starter solenoid.

Cold be Volt regulator. I just went thru the same thing.

But low 12V might not be enough to start. my van started HARD at 12.1V.

Fusible links sound very plausible.

OK will do. It seems weird that after I checked all the fuses it wouldn't click or make any sounds. I rechecked but will try to look behind the fuse box. Where approximately would the fusible links be?

I noticed last night the glove box light works. I put cables on and still nothing. It seems like someone threw a switch to OFF. Anyone know where the fusible links are?

Starter solenoid is on pass inner fender. The fusible links look like a regular wire. If they are blown they may look ok, give them a pull, if one is blown it will stretch since the insulation is all that's holding it together.

The solenoid is on the starter, the relay is on the passenger fender.

The fusible links come off the relay and have a think looking insulation and have these blocks on them with the wringing "Fusible Link" on the block.

Correct, the relay uses a solenoid to move a plunger that touches the contacts to complete the circuit to the starter solenoid, which moves a plunger to engage the gear to the flywheel and make contact with the battery cable and turn the starter motor on...simple. I have had people get confused when calling it a relay. I bought one at NAPA the other day, and it said solenoid on the box even though it technically is a relay. I have also bought ignition modules that said modulator on the box!

I know, I think I've even seen manuals that called them solenoids, but in my little mind if it doesn't operate the bendix it's not a solenoid.

I clipped this from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solenoid

In http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineering, the term may also refer to a variety of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transducer devices that convert http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy into linear motion. The term is also often used to refer to a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solenoid_valve, which is an integrated device containing an electromechanical solenoid which actuates either a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumatic or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic valve, or a solenoid switch, which is a specific type of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relay that internally uses an electromechanical solenoid to operate an electrical switch; for example, an http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starter_solenoid, or a linear solenoid, which is an electromechanical solenoid.

I disagree with the last part. What they are describing is a relay in my book since they dont specify that it also moves the starter drive gear.

clean the contacts on the longer bolt were the batt cables hook up..this is a binding post for all the loads, the relay is for the starter..the only wire that should be attacthed here,on the short post.
