79 heater control lighting..Blue

I changed over to Led's in my dash. Looks great, nice to see my dash!! The only problem is my ac/heater control face plate. The plastic behind the lettering is blue, barely have light showing. I tried scraping it down to clear or whatever was the first layer, but it is blue all the way through. I have Red lighting. what can I do?? Any other trucks have a clearer lens that would fit???

Can you do a little picture step-by-step? I want to put colored lights in my dash too but I suck with wiring and stuff

75-79 are the same control panel. 73 and 74 would work in your truck but unfortunately have the same blue lettering. sorry no help

80's panel front..

Looking again at the thread I found on lighting the dash and removing the blue filters, It seems the 80's front looks similar to the 79. any idea's that this would work.?? I cut out the plastic that holds the front and back together and then bolted them together. It seems close to use the newer one.....
