Ya'll took over my bitch thread and started talking about unrelated stuff.
This is the OBS forum though, so I should have known we could never stay on topic.
This thread is still on topic IMO. You started the thread talking about how our vacuum pumps are overpriced and FAIL TOO SOON.. The discussion is still about failing vacuum pumps and what can be done as a solution... I'd say that's pretty damn well on topic..
I'm guessing it's not on topic b/c it's not about you b!tching anymore? LOL
Any idea what an electric vac pump off a newer model truck is capable of pulling? Would it be able to generate enough vacuum to run the brakes? I've never put a gauge on one so I have no idea. I'm guessing not but still curious.
the electric pump used on the super duties will not work the brakes. climate control only. and esof hubs until they break.

If you look at the thread title, it says "parts rape"
Not "vacuum pumps are over priced so I want to bitch cause they fail too soon."
Typical OBS fashion for us to go off topic.
The exchange between me and glenn was in humor, and now you all wanting to get your 2 cents in as well.
The discussion was NEVER about failing vacuum pumps and how to remedy it.
It was about how over priced parts are that fail often.
Power steering pumps seem to be the crap today. I'm on my 3rd now. Not cheap ones either. Motorcraft and then agr. Finally found a brand new nos one. I'm so good at changing the pumps I'm almost NASCAR ready.

I agree with that also, I'm tired of changing them out also.
This thread went back on-topic when William got to bitch about it being off-topic....
Just about anything reman that's made by Cardone, Dorman, etc. is cr@p these days. It's the "lifetime warranty" racket. They count on:
(1) most parts go into vehicles that will be sold or junked before the part fails,
(2) of the remaining parts, the owner can't find the receipt, or forgets about the warranty, or gets fed up and buys a better quality part, and
(3) of the few remaining that people actually do replace on warranty, the part is still cheap enough to warranty out because they're rebuilt by sweatshop labor.
Ultimately it's cheaper to do this, shipping the cores to Mexico to be rebuilt by people paid pennies an hour, using cheap materials, than to build in the quality in the first place.
you guys have a lot of failures.... never changed my PS pump either....
Water pump was done once or twice tho.... cant complain ... the PO had a shop do it.
the only re-occuring issue I have is the glow plug issue.... although.... I'd have to actually change it for it to become a re-occuring issue... I have had the stancore relay sitting in a box for over a year at this point....
it only gets cold enough to matter a couple of weeks a year... by the time the hard starts get to me I no longer need to change it and it drops down my priority list...
oh... on topic....
the door hinges are damn expensive from the dealer... and every truck needs them...

I agree with the part about people paid pennies an hour, but not always in Cheap materials, Mexico has become recognized, with the time, as a good quality labor and materials.
