So I'm test driving an Excursion overnight from a dealer. It's in extremely good shape (IMHO) for having 136k miles on it (almost too good - my wife thinks I'm paranoid)
One thing I've found that concerns me is the front end. If you look at the picture you'll notice the front bumper on the passenger side sits at leat 1/2" lower than the drivers side. Also the hood on the driver side has virtually no gap vs the passenger side which has more gap. I hope this makes sense.

What's weird is I ran a carfax on it and it shows nothing since March of 2010 (yes, 3 years ago) and it only has 10k miles on it since then.
Can anyone shed some light on to this for me?
Thank you!
I would definatly look a little deeper, check the frame horns and make sure everthing else looks straight. If it all looks good then I would make the dealer adjust everything so the gaps are correct. Might not be a bad idea to have an independent check done on it as well..
The bumper is pretty easy to screw up. When the bolts are put in it, one has to lift up on the bumper to push it up close- they are slotted holes. This probably can be adjusted unless the end of the frame bracket got damaged, but I'm not sure how often that really happens.
The hood is adjusted using the little rubber bumpers inside the engine compartment. There are two, near the headlights, and hexagon shaped I think. They just unscrew. Unscrew it a few turns on the low side, shut the hood, and it should be up again. May take a couple times playing with it to get it straight. If you have it raised up (less gap between the hood and grill), that will help the hood pop up when you pull the release.
They're asking 11,500 (which incidentally is KBB). Since I'm paying cash I'm going to come in low at 8500, with 9500 being my max (I'm willing to spend up to 12 on the right excursion but they're hard to find around here)
I would take a look at the fender and hood bolts in the engine bay to see if they were wrenched on. If not It could be a minor front end problem where the grill and bumper were just replaced if even that. Like mentioned the bumper may have been pulled for some service and not installed strait. Which is weird but I hear there are incompetent mechanics everywhere. May also had a ranch hand type bumper on it and the original owner reinstalled the factory bumper before trading in or selling off. Have nay other pics of it?

Yeah, as was said, unscrew the rubber stop for the hood on the drivers side a couple turns and recheck for even-ness , mine was the same way, but not so bad
When I added a front hitch receiver and put the bumper back on, it was off just like that. Realizing this after some time, I loosened up the bolts by the tow hooks and the bolt inside the wheel well and put a floor jack below the bumper to lift it up until it was straight in line. Then tightened the bolts and it's been fine since.
One quick way to tell if it was damaged is to look at the metal frame/quarter panel mounts inside. Does it show any wavy pattern like it was crunched and attempted to straighten back? Does it match the other side?
The bolts surrounding the tow hooks in front are the ones that locate the bumper. I have had to adjust mine. Same with hood bumpers. Could be just a matter of adjustment, if there is no other sign of accident damage.
The bumper is probably out of alignment. I wouldnt worry about only 10k in three years, there are probably a few Ex owners in here that have only put 10k on theirs in the last 3 years. Really need to run an Autocheck and a Carfax both. Ive seen Carfaxs that dont show something the Autocheck does, and vice-versa. However, neither one of those should be a substitute for putting a good paint meter on all the body panels to find out if anything has been painted.
