2000 Explorer manual drivers front door lock problems
If I have over looked this in "search" please forgive me, but here is the problem: The rod/linkage that goes from the key lock cylinder has come off the cylinder clip. The rod/link is still in the door and attached ( it is VERY loose), the door lock plunger doohicky has no effect, but is attached the the lock and is hard to move it up and down. We can't lock the door and ya'll know how things are these days.
Would anyone have a picture/diagram or drawing of the correct placement of the key cylinder to lock mechanism ???
If anyone can help me,'d really appreciate it.
TJ
Chances are pretty good if you remove the door panel you'll be able to determine which rod goes where. Since the rods came loose though you will probably find broken retaining clips though which you'll need to replace or re-engineer.
Thanx Shorod for replying,
I've removed the panel and peeled back the weather barrier, the clips are all there, intact as well as the rod. the rod/linkage is being held in place by a small metal eyelet that is built in to the lock mechanism in the jamb.....can't see the pieces that well as I have to use a mirror to see the stuff. Of course the cylinder end isn't that big of a pain to deal with.
Did you ever solve your problem? I also am having trouble locking and unlocking the drivers door. I took the panel off and found the rod from the key'ed lock was off of its attachment point. I put it back on, but not sure if I put it on correctly because my door is still locking and unlocking some of the time.
