My 96 f250 won't fire off and I'm stumped
I put new Cps In and nothing
Changed the idm for a working unit and nothing
Fuses are good
Batteries are good
The wait to start light works
No white smoke when cranking
Tach does not move while cranking!!!
Any thoughts?
Voltage. Just because it may sound good doesn't mean it's getting the 10.5 minimum volts needed to fire the injectors. Check ground wires going to the body too. There's one under the cab going to the body from the frame. A friend of mine that works on a lot of Ford trucks told me they are seeing a lot of ground issues coming up on the OBS trucks because they are getting older, and those ground wires are losing their connections.
I just went to start it one day and it wouldn't start
Yes it's a 97.
I didn't check fuel pressure since the tach wasn't moving figured it was electronic problem
Ipr is newish was put in 2 years ago when the t500 was
Make sure you have fuel pressure, ICP, and proper cranking voltage. Heck try to jump start it if you need to. You may need to make a mechanical HPO gauge to check ICP...
Well it's fixed. I swapped out the PCM and it started so I swapped to the original idm it ran so went back to original PCM it ran so I'm not sure what was ever wrong with it... Maybe it just wanted to be loved on a lil
Hmmm... with the unplugging and re-plugging you may have scraped oxidation or other crud off a connector and regained continuity.
Might be worthwhile as general shop practice for these trucks that anytime you unplug an electrical connector, you hit it with contact cleaner before reconnecting.

I do!!!!!!
Most people dont.
I have to religiously clean electrical connections.

I do it every single time w/ Deoxit...the best out there. Its amazing stuff to watch the oxidation disappear before your eyes...
The chip was out of truck I'm thinking maybe the hpop lost prime and or fuel filter did since the truck had been sitting a while and it just took a lot of cranking to get it back up
