Has anyone cut the header flange inbetween each header so each pipe is not connected to the other. I have been thinking about doing this with my headers to cure the wonderful leak I have. If anyone has done this and is happy with the result let me know. I am going to be replacing the gaskets with some better ones but while i had them off thought about this idea.
Here I go being a commercial again...Another gasket possibility is the Bassani set for your truck. They consist of a stainless steel frame that traps four seperate compressed graphite gaskets at each exhaust port. So even if the header flange is not quite perfect, the gasket is only at the perimeter of each port. The gaskets compress around the perimeter of each port and expand to fill in the gaps. The stainless steel frames are half the thickness of the graphite gaskets so you can compress them til they no longer leak. The gaskets should fit just about any set of headers since at that point the gaskets and headers are made to match the bolt and port pattern of the heads. The graphite inserts are replaceable and available through Bassani dealers should the need arise. Just an idea.
