Anybody here with a crew cab ever convert the rear doors to the '87 + single piece windows? I'm curious what all is required besides the glass and felt around the window. Are the roller mechanisms different? (manual windows of course on my '86). This is not a huge priority of mine, especially since all of the glass, rubber, and felts on my truck are in great shape, but I do like the look of the solid piece windows way better. If it's not to much hassle I would definitely prefer to do the conversion.*
It may be simpler to find the rear doors in the jy and swap the whole door. I cant say for sure though, never really mess with crewcabs.
Definitely easier, but the one junkyard near my that had a decent pair of rear CC doors was prohibitively expensive. I know some folks have done this conversion, just don't know how involved it is. I might check the IDI forum, that might be where I heard it mentioned, but most of those guys have newer trucks that would already have the 1 piece windows. Like I said, not a big deal I just like the cleaner lines of the single piece windows. Mine work just fine though.
AFAIK, the windows, roll-up mechanism, and door panels are all going to be different. Might be easier to just get the whole door, but from everything I've seen on these trucks, there's a good chance all of the newer stuff bolts in. Just like the bricknose wing window, window mechanism, and door panel I used on the front doors of my truck.
