thats a very good question! i wonder if it would, i know with a welder and cutting wheel anythingll fit anything.
i got a 5.4 sd im gonna yank that junk out and put a 460 or idi in it, cause thats what i got. if i had my dream engine i would put a 300 inline 6 but i aint got one or the money to get one.
dont need no over rated junk save them for the kids to impress their ignorent friends with.
Call it what you want b-uno.....
The 12 valve is simple to drop into just about anything not to mention can make good power. Someone makes and adapter plate to adapt it to the 4R100. It only needs one wire hooked to it to make it run that's why I said 12 valve and not 24 valve... Much simplier swap and can be had cheaper also.
that gold plated slug may be cheaper to buy, but the IDI stock without a turbo has more HP and torque, and will not cost you $6000 for motormounts and trans adapter plate.
it would be a fairly issue free swap one would think for the budget minded.old school simplicity is sometimes all ya need.
if it means running an idi or scrapping the truck, set the idi in there and run 'er for all she's worth if you don't need to pass smog.
The body is an 04 sorry for screwin that up. I dont know if it changes anything and I don't know what year the idi is from. A guy I work with has 4 just sittin around. I was just wondering if it'll fit in the 04 body and bolt up. I also have a friend that's got a 93 with a 7.3 idi and he's got nothin bad to day about it. So before I said anything to the guy I work with I wanted to no if it'll even fit. And I'm from PA so screw that smog stuff I just can't roll alot of coal. The po po don't like not bein able to see. And cummins may have alot of torque but they sound like a dieing cow.
the only issue i can see having is if it has an automatic trans you may have an issue with tach signal to the computer for proper trans function.
and a lot less power than the 6 liter.
You can make anything fit with time and money. Are you in a hurry to get this done or is it a project truck? I dont see any of the 6.0 stuff hooking right up to the IDI and working correctly.
