06 Expedition. ..2 issues
First issue is the 4 wheel drive doesn't work. Its an 06 King Ranch with the dial on the dash and advancetrac. It'll go into 4lo and All Wheel but 4hi does nothing. Also when its cold outside the trans makes a high pitched sound....hard to describe but its annoying at best. Btw its a 5.4 with 98k miles. Thanks for any help.

I had the same issue last week.I could turn my dial and it would say AllWheel Drive Engaged. Niether the 4Hi nor 4Low would engage.No lights,no noise from the shift motor,NOTHING. After days of reading on this Forum I went put my Expy on some drive on ramps. Got under the drivers side about there the front and rear door meet (B-Pillar) got under it with a small hammer and tapped on the Transfer Case Motor. NOT HARD,just some light tapping. Got up started the truck and all of the gears were working. Took me longer to drive on to the ramps than it did tapping the motor

I had the same issues with my EB 06 4WD not engaging. I replaced the motor on the transfer case. Issue resolved. Bought it on Amazon.com it was like $60 or so.
The 4WD motor sits under the truck on the transfer case.
Shift motor is number 4 on the picture below.
This is the motor itself, I had to re-wire the motor because the Expy has an extra wire.
