I have a '93 f350 cab/chassis 4x4 with a 450 5 speed. Lately It has not been wanting to start or starts real slow and sometimes the stainless ground cable between the firewall and the motor on the passenger side starts smoking while cranking.

I had the starter checked out, battery,alt and fender solenoid were all replaced but it is still doing it. the battery cable also all appear to be in great shape also.

Is they anything anyone can think of trying?

 

Sounds like a bad ground to the engine. The negative battery cable should go the the engine. If it's corroded, that would do it. If you can't find an obvious problem with it, hook up a temporary ground to the engine (jumper cables) and try it...

 

Yes it sounds like somebody hooked the battery Ground cable to the frame. It goes to the engine and not the frame.
