Rich, we have the same one. Mine is also brown but when I took the picture I did not have the flash on so it does kinda look black. If I had to guess yours looks like it got moisture in it. The back side of the disk looks corroded, but just a guess.

Jose, what in the heck happened to your relay? From what I can see the internals look pretty good.

Still hoping someone has a failed after market GPR, maybe the Stancore (spelling) that could be disassembled. It would be interesting to see the surface area on the contacts and how well it is constructed.

How many have had the STANCOR FAIL ? I'm sure there have been some I just can't recall.
Jim you could be right about the moisture, I did notice though that the ends of the contact wires that connect to the coil had gotten hot and were melted or just very stuck to the cork gasket. Those long wire or conductors don't look very substantial to me and could be a week link.

my stancore is working good.

Somebody here, I think Rick, posted about the differences between the stancore and the stock style GPR.

I think it went somewhere along the lines of the stancore being harder on the electrical system and that the stock GRP would actually do a better job running the glow plug system. I cannot recall 100% on this so I could be screwing all the information up.

I have had no issues with my stancore, but after a complete new wiring system after it, I'm down to 6 GP's starting my truck for over the last year.
