Thank you sir.

What model 80s handle do i need? Any link?

same thing happened to me a while back. A nut driver is all i needed to fix it. I got the chrome handle from carquest. The driver and passenger sides are different so dont get the wrong one. It will look just like the old one but shiny lol

^ this!

If you break one, the cable is probably already stretched and you keep breaking the plastic handles. On my old OBS, after breaking several plastic handles, I upgraded to a metal handle off an older truck and problem solved

Mine broke ALL the time. Finally I replaced the door hinge pin (Tack Auto) and I haven't had a problem since!

Since these guys have confused the snot out of you, let me offer my advice by way of experience. Take the door panel off and check the sheet metal holding the handle mechanism to the door. If it is torn, rivet it or use a fender washer through the mechanism to keep the sheet metal from tearing even more. If the sheet metal is not torn then your cable to the latch mechanism is stretched out and you need to replace it. This is truly a PIA to do but can be completed and the rewards are great every time the door opens like it is brand new. A stop gap solution that might work for a while is to twist the door cable to shorten it up, but in my experience, it doesn't help much. If yo think you are going to replace your door handle and be done with it, I have the receipts for 8 handles that say this won't be your last.
