Yesterday I was doing a favor moving some furniture ,with my panel and 16 ft trailer. So as no good deed goes unpunished,I got a flat left rear tire. The lucky part was I got into a parking lot and it was warm and dry.I carry a screw jack, and a bottle jack.To use them I had to lay down and reach under the truck to get them under the Axel.after using the screw jack to raise the truck enough to get the bottle jack under the axe,I was able to get the Axel high enough to get the wheel off,This was a real pain in the ***,I can't imagine doing this on the side of a highway. What do you guys use for Jacks, and carrying a floor jack is not an option.
At my age, I call road service. Good Sam has a fairly decent road side, towing service, program that includes all vehicles I own, big or small, new or old. Really, I've been lucky, never had to use them.
Emergency road service.insurance I have on all my vehicles.
I don't usually even carry a spare, all know pretty foolish, but I usually stay close.home. I did.have two spares and a floor jack when we drove to KY. I do however carry a.fire exstiguisher.
All that hot air around your house must be affecting your brain, they say when you start repeating yourself you are suffering from the first stage of Uh, I forget!

The double post wasn't my fault. The system must have done it.
Hot air?!!! Damn, it's freezing up here. I'm waiting for the global warming to kick in. I know there is more hot air in northern KY than here

If you have Road Side Assistance, you'll never have to use it...
Sorry to hear about the flat. I had 2 last week on my daily drivers. It can be a pain. I carry a low profile bottle jack that I got from Harbor Freight. It's always a pain to slide underneath. I also carry a small 12volt air compressor and a tire plug kit from HF. I have plugged over a half dozen nail holes over the past few years that way.
On a side note - I have Hagerty Insurance. All of their policies come with a basic road-side assistance plan that covers flat-bed towing for 10 miles and flats/jumps/out of gas. I always opt for an upgraded plan. It costs me $100 per year but covers ALL my vehicles and provides 100 miles of flat-bed towing. I love it and have used it to get my classics and my daily drivers back home safely. I highly recommend it. I don't even carry spares on my old trucks anymore. Most of the time the plug kit will fix the flat, if not, it gets towed home or to a tire place for a new tire.
Don't let a flat stop you from doing good deeds. Good luck!
Funny thing is,I was doing the favor for my insurance agent.I never thought about the roadside help as I have never had to use it,When she and her husband showed up I was putting the spare on.Thats when I thought about the roadside service. She said yes I had the coverage. The tire had a cut across the tread that could not be fixed, and they had 20,000 miles on them so 4 new tires, and a jack from a F250 and I am ready for the road.
$10 a the local u-pick-it gives a choice of just about any jack a guy could ask for. I got one of those ford jack with those insane long handles (mid 80's F series)
