Welcome to FTE. If you are looking for headers, and a high flow Y pipe with catalytic converter, you should check out Bassani. I have their complete Street Thunder system on my 96 Bronco. It would be virtually the same for your application. It is very high quality, and the performance is great. They have put alot of time and energy into designing their components (even down to their gaskets, very slick!). I opted for their ceramic coated headers, but the chrome variant are also very high quality. Their Y pipe has a high flow cat, with true 3" flow through. It flows MUCH more than stock. I really love the system. Do you have a catback? If not, are you thinking of getting one? Bassani's is high quality stainless, and it sounds great! I know I got a discount when I bought all three for my truck. Check this link out, it should show you what the pieces I am talking about.
Thanks for the info. just wasnt sure what the best was for the price. My y pipe needs replaced because it is destroyed. Is Bassani the only one who makes this? I do have duals out the back...they split off after the cat through a muffler. the rest of the exaust is 2.5 in i believe.
Will i get a deeper sound out of headers and a new y pipe? Its sounds pretty nice right now except for the leaks at Y - pipe and connections at manifold.
I also have a 3 in body lift on will that affect the installation of new headers?
I'v had good luck with the hedman shorties, good fit with the stock y-pipe and good performance/sound increase. If you're just looking to replace the y-pipe with a stock type unit, places like Advance Auto and Napa carry these. They include the cat and can be had for about $130. The Hedman shorties were about $260 for mine and should be the same for yours.
