4" turbo back

Just a quick question to those who have put a 4" turbo back exhaust on their 6.0. Obviously the truck becomes louder on the outside, how is the noise inside the cab? I have a c/c lb and would love to do this to my truck but if its too loud then I may just leave it be. I don't need a new exhaust system but love the sound of a straight pipe. Thanks for your advice!!

What year truck is it? It really doesnt make the exhaust louder, its pretty much sounds like stock until about 2200 rpm then it really sounds sweet

Be warned if its a 2003, the turbo is really obnoxious straight piped. Im 18 and i have no idea why people like this whistle. I bought an MBRP 4" system with muffler so i hope it quiets it down a little more than the temporary straight pipe

Mine is 4" turbo back with a 6" chrome tip. It sounds great without being obnoxiously loud even working hard. My bro-inlaw who is a die hard Chevy guy even complimented me on how good it sounds. The one thing you'll really notice is the VGT cycling. When someone asks me about it I tell them it's a short in the Jake Brake.

Inside noise isn't bad at all, just a nice background rumble. I talk on a hand free phone and never have any problems. You'll be happy with it.

It's when the Variable Geometry Turbo does a vane sweep to prevent sticking. Sounds odd if you don't know what it is.

Thanks for the input! Now if I can convince my wife that I need a new exhaust. My truck is a 2004 with 190000 and I found an MBRP for $250 for the aluminumized version. Living in Wisconsin, do you think ut will last for a while with all of the road salt in the winter. Otherwise I might as well keep the original stock exhaust.

Fyi if its a standard a 4inch down pipe won't fit with out bending the pipe to clear the transmission or so I'm told by multiple exhaust manufacturing companies why they don't offer the 4 for the standard... but I made it fit lol

I recently did an MBRP 3.5 downpipe to 4 inch with no muffler or cat and its F-ing loud. Real loud. There are certain speeds where you can't hear it at all(70 mph being one of them), and there are ranges where I can't even hear myself think(75 mph) lol. Over all I like it but might be going with a muffler in the future.

Ya mines pretty loud too I got a 4 inch down pipe to 5 inch straight pipe no muffler or cat and then into duel 6 inch stacks. Plus I have a powermax turbo. If I just putt around its fine but put the skinny pedal down and she barks pretty loud right around 2600rpm!

I put my MBRP exhaust system on a couple months ago. At most rpms, it is comparable to stock, but I have noticed a drone between 50-60 mph. It sounds great under acceleration.

I have a CCLB as well, and the exhaust exits so far behind you that its really not loud on the inside. I wish it were louder sometimes, but I enjoy the quietness for long trips

I'm running a Magnaflow 4" turbo back system with no cat. No loud at all until you press the loud pedal. Even then it's still not too obnoxious.

The muffler is a straight thru design, so being an 04 you can slightly hear the turbo whistle at idle. But again, it's not obnoxious.

I've been very happy with this system. It has a 4" down pipe, all stainless steel, DIY bolt on kit, has not rusted at all over the past 5+ years I've had it. Not loud. And my EGT temps recover almost immediately after full throttle runs.

ditto. i went with the aluminized 4" Diamond Eye kit w/ no cat/muffler and it sounds great. i can't even tell a difference from stock at cruising speeds. give'r hell or hook the trailer up and you can hear it. i can't get enough of the turbo whistle.

the downpipe is 4" on my system, just has a small dimple in one spot, which i assume clears the obstruction that the other manufacturers claim as the reason to use a 3.5".
