Just figured out that the KK folks over filled my 2010 6.4L with oil by 1.5 gallons! Had some sporadic smoke coming out the exhaust and decided to start investigating---drained 6 gallons of oil out this morning! Shame on me for not checking the oil after the last change by the KK guys---
Other than adding 15 Qts of new Rotella T---anything else I should do?
Sure appreciate any insight on this issue, but the truck seems to be running just find---but the diesel mpg has dropped from 14 to 8!
I would contact a good dealer inform them of what happened let them tell me what needs to be done and have KK pick up any repair bills. Just my 2 cents.
My math might not be perfect, but if you drained SIX gallons, they over filled by 2.25 gallons! I would definitely have a full inspection by a great diesel tech.
I'm beginning to wonder how they put in that much extra. Any half whit lube tech would check the oil level after filling. 2+ gallons would almost definitely cause a run away engine.
Funny you should say that Senix, just posted in another thread on a 6.4L that has had a couple of runaway problems with it. Just offered that as a point to look at! I've seen it twice now.
Did you get an analysis done? May not have been all oil. These trucks will make oil, mine was making about a half to 3/4 of a quart every 1000 miles. Ran as high as 6% dilution. So, if the truck is stock it could be making oil, although 2 gallons seems a bit much unless there was something else going on like a leaking injector. If it was me I'd want to get it checked. I'm not sure whar KK is (I'm guessing it's not Krispy Kreame) but I don't let anybody but ford change mine unless I stand there and watch them. Also, take a look at the thread just below this one about the full throttle caused by too much oil. Seems like they might have done the same thing your KK guy did.
