Interceptor Label on '67
I have a 1967 Ranger (352 engine) that I bought last year. It has a unique label stuck on the front on its heater.
The label is black and says INTERCEPTOR on it. I think it is original. Has anyone ever heard of this before? And if so, what does it mean?
Thanks, Hombre292
Interceptor; one that intercepts; specifically : a light high-speed fast-climbing fighter plane or missile designed for defense against raiding bombers or missiles.
I would guess the engine was a transplant from a Crown Vic police car or something close to that.

</td></tr></tbody></table>Our copper, brass and steel heater cores were designed specifically for a police department fleet manager frustrated by the predictable failure every of an aluminum heater core every six months in their Police Interceptor.
The electrical devices in the car create stray electric DC current that runs through the cooling system. This ungrounded electrical current causes electrolysis and galvanic corrosion, an electrochemical reaction in the coolant turning it into a corrosive agent that eats away at thin aluminum cores in radiators and heater cores.

It's not original, no Ford truck of any year has an Interceptor label/decal/emblem. A previous owner put it there.
There are several different versions of these decals that have been reproduced, available from dearbornclassics.com
There's also an Interceptor emblem used on the glovebox doors of 1957 Ford/Mercury 312 Passenger Cars with 4V's, McCollough Superchargers, and dual 4V's.
People put all sorts of emblems on their vehicles that were never intended for them. Example: Nissan Titan offered a Texas Special package.
I went to a Mustang resto shop, bought a California Special nameplate used on 1968 Mustang's, took the Texas Special nameplate off my 2006 Titan's tailgate, replaced it with California Special.
Then, when I attended SoCal Titan club events, people asked: "Where did you get that nameplate, what's it from?"

btw: Crown Vic/Mercury Grand Marquis police cruisers have "Police Interceptor" nameplates on their rear body panels (below the decklid) and/or front fenders.
