-Looking at what I believe is a true cream puff '93 Ranger SuperCab for sale by a private party.
I believe it is a V6 and know it is a 5 speed.
XLT trim
I know its a 20 year old truck, that doesn't concern me, it has only 70k miles on it.
What am I looking at here guys?? trouble spots?? concerns?? what engine would this be?? 2.8 or 2.9?? I know one of these were troublesome originally....
Looking at trading my '97 Thunderbird LX "Sport" for it even up....
If it is a V6, it would be either a 3.0 or 4.0. Trouble spots could be anything, but before you do anything, check the oil level in the trans. That trans has a bad reputation of loosing the oil before you know it, and fries the trans.
^+1 on the rubber shift rail plugs on the side of the tranny dryrotting, shrinking
& leaking, or worse yet, popping out & leaking all the tranny lube out. Good news is that they can be replaced without having to remove the tranny.
Find out & post which V6 it has, as each engine has its own issues. Use the VIN # decoder in the Tech Guides button atop this page, to find out the engine & other particulars on how it came equipped from the factory & the Forum can give more info on things to look for.
