Finally got some pics. This was my buddies late fathers, last truck he bought. Sketchy on details, but it's an 85, 351, 4 speed. No emblems on it besides Ford, plain jane, no air, but has ps/pb. Is original miles on the clock at 39k, stays in the garage at all times. Engine is pretty greasy for the mileage, don't know why. Truck was sitting outside, so grabbed some pics.
I have an F350 that came with that gray, waffle-weave-type of cluster & radio/HVAC bezels. Like he said, this is a plain-Jane variant, no fancy trim packages installed.
The Customs, and later the XL which replaced the Custom designation could be ordered with nearly any option available.
I have had 1 1980 custom that had no options whatsoever, manual steering, manual brakes, radio delete, 300, 3 on the tree, 185/75R15 tires, bare bones truck.
I have also had an 86 diesel parts rig that had everything you would have found standard on a Lariat, but was still an XL.
