Alternator going?

Last week we had a snow storn that dropped around 18 inches of snow, was out in the country for most of the day, when I came back to town I noticed that I had loads of mud , grass, you name it packed into the passengers side wheel wells. When to the power wash and sprayed most of it out rather that do it at home. Stopped to grab some beer on the way home, when I started the truck up at the store I noticed that the battery light on the dash was on, crap!! Pulled out and once I got moving the light when out. Was fine for a couple days then the light came back on, got the volt meter and sure enough I was not getting the 14.88 volts at the battery. Turned the X off restarted and it was fine, later that day the light came back on. When I have had alternator go they go, not this working, not working but I am sure that it is possible. Has anyone had this happen? At first I thought that maybe I had some how gotten some water on something when I was cleaning the front passenger side wheel well but don't see how that could have happened.

Mine did that, but not from a power wash. Battery light flickered. Changed the alternator with a good rebuilt one and all is good.

If your alternator was weak for some time, your battery may go shortly thereafter.
