So i bought this cabover in ithica ny this past fall. It was sitting in my backyard and i had a little mishap with it when the entire roof and back of the cab ripped off when i went to go move it. So that gave me the motivation to get it inside and start working on it.
Here are some pictures from when i first got it. It was sitting on a farm when scrappers came around for all the heavy steel. So they took the frame and ripped the cab off of the frame with chains and set the cab on the ground.
And this is what i got done this week. I got what was left of the cab stripped and off of the subframe. Got the subframe inside and bolted down the new cab to the sub rails and started cutting the old cowl out. Yes, i should have braced the body but i wasn't too concerned since i was using factory seams and not cutting where i felt like. So after half a day of drilling out spot welds and grinding pinch welds, i got the old cowl bolted back to the subframe. Had to do a little tweaking but everything fit together perfectly. Then i started tacking and welding down low at the rockers making sure the door jambs were parallel. Then i moved my way up and out to the pinch weld along the front under the hood. Next is to tackle the door and rust repair on the front fenders. Hopefully i can get them straightened out and make the look presentable.
Here are the worst spots on the cab and you can see why it failed.
The new cab and door.
And the mess i had to finish. I ended up welding the cowl seam solid from the outsidebecause it is damn near impossible to weld up inside the cowl with all the bracing.
Bravo! Looks like a great project and you certainly are doing a great thing bringing this beauty back from the brink. Keep us happy with more photos of your progress. Thanks and good luck!

Thanks guys... i may set the cab on a f450 chassis i have and stuff a powerstroke in it and throw a flatbed on the back. But we'll see. Ive got the cab for sale but I'm just going to keep working on it. Next thing to tackle is the front doors and the braces for the hinges. Looks like a pretty straight forward swap between the coe doors and regular pickup doors.
