IDI Forum

Hey all, I have spend my vacation from Afghanistan doing preventative maintenance on my '92 cclb 7.3 idi. I LOVE this truck. It's my 5th IDI. Runs like a top. I just wanted to thank all of you for a great info on here. I never would have thought about replacing the CDR or the little tricks in replacing/repairing the motor. It is great to have all the knowledge in one spot. My question is I will be doing a top end build on the truck when I get back home for good at the end of the year. Heads, studs, cam, turbo ect. I'm looking for any input on intake porting and polishing. Is it worth it? Does it make a difference in performance?

The ports on these heads are huge already at high rpm the actually flow better than any powerstroke heads. The problem with these heads is low rpm flow. It sucks. So unless yu plan on making a 500hp idi I would let it be and spend money and time on other mods. Look back on like page 13 of the forum and find the thread about it by racinndrumin. He has a couple threads about it. And thanks you for your service my wife and I pray for the military every night be safe my friend.
