Did you get it off the of I-95?
The gray ICM even though it was the wrong one it will still start it and run the engine so so. It just won't have as much power and not as many MPG.

The runs and then dies and runs again when it cools down it sounds like it may be the PIP sensor or ignition coil. With two tanks we leave out that the fuel pumps can get hot and quit if you do hear them run for one second when you turn on the key..

Subford, what a day man. Is it okay if I vent for a minute? My mother-in-law picked me up and took me to pick up my wife's minivan. I got it and went to the house and started this thread. My mother-in-law towed me with the minivan. I live in bike week central and you should have seen the looks. I got it to an Advance that was on the way. Turns out, they don't have a scanner at all. Towed it to another Advance and started pulling into the parking lot in the middle of all the bike traffic and SNAP. My rope broke with half my truck in the road. Got it in and they have no obd-1 scanner. And it just kept going. Went to put the new icm from lkq I got for $11 and sheared the bolt off in the heat sink. What a day.

By the way, I drove the truck home. Once I dropped it off at the second Advance, they put the battery on the charger for me and I went home, so it was off the truck for about an hour, when I put it back in, I cranked it and it kept running for almost ten minutes. It even moved on its own power.

Thankfully these days don't come along very often and this is the first time the truck has left me on the side of the road. I've had it for more than three years and it has more than a quarter million miles so it's due to have a bad day I guess. But Subford wasn't kidding. It drives like a different animal. My best city mpg has been 10 and has always felt sluggish, especially in first and second. Just driving normally now it will chirp the tires easily in second. Here at the end of the day, I'm a happy camper and the truck still continues to put smiles on my face. Now at the end of this semester I'm putting a shackle reversal, super duty springs, and 37" goodyear oz tires on it. Can't wait.

Nope. Truck lives the life of ease taking me to and from school and work. Also really curious about this and why you say this.

the shackle reverse kits just were not designed to carry alot of weight. empty truck is fine but if you tow anything of any size they will bend or break. the angle of the rearend is wacky for towing to. also if its four wheel drive it will shove the driveshaft into the transfer case i must credit diesel brad for the info about the transfer case

If you have a driveshaft shoving into the transfer case, sounds like a shaft length problem. Weight on the back of the truck, in my opinion, would not affect the front axle travel as much as say, going over a speed bump fast or rail road tracks.

Also, I need to mention I am building my own shackle reversal but I'm curious as to which parts would break that you're talking about.

hey guess what there is this new thing people use their truck for. its called towing slash hauling. at mean i least i warned him so he didnt put the kit on load it up then have it break and kill little jimmy who happend to be standing too close. or have his gas tank(s) get shoved through the bed of the truck while his axle flies out the back
