Cowl Vent Weatherstrip

Hi all, just reinstalled the weatherstripping for the cowl vent with my grandson and granddaughter last night since I had some help. I first bought the weatherstrip from Mid-Fifty but had trouble with the install. It placed the cowl vent to high after a trial fit. They even warned about it in their instructions. Well, I went ahead and ordered one from LMC and to my amazement, it fit perfect on the trial run. It does sit a little high, but I'm sure it will settle down after sitting in the sun awhile. Plan to glue it in tonight. I'm wondering if anyone has had trouble with this install too.

Those seals are all a bit awkward to get seated but just as you say, once in place they will settle down. I have found that once installed, it helps to set a little weight on the cowl vent while parked to help compress the seal.

Charlieled, your idea on adding weight sounds like a great idea while letting it sit in the sun to soften it up a bit. Great advise.
