01 f350 crew cab longbed. Question for the lifted big tire runners with auto trans. You guys/gals have any issues with your trans with bog tires and stock gears. Im still in process of haggling this used car lot and its lifted 8in with 42 in tires if i get it im dropping tires to 37in due to local lift laws anyways i wont be towing much besides a boat here and there no mods that i can see on truck. Whats your ideas/ thoughts ?
I am running BDS 6" lift with 37's..Its hard to say about the trans,I installed a BTS @260000, 60,000 of that was with the lift and probally 30,000 with stock gears
snake i havent bought truck yet but bed rails are around 66-68 in from ground and tires are worn down to measure to 38.5 tall tires on it now are 385-85r16 comes out to a 42-15r15
thanks joey i believe this truck still has stock 3:73 gears ill have to spin the tire and count driveshaft rotations to make sure i plan on dropping to 36 in tire that measures out to a 36.6 in tall new and once i wear them out ill buy a bigger rim so i can get a 37 in tire it has 16 in rims atm
I'm running 38s with the factory 3:73s my Trans dis go out but the gears had nothing to do with it. I plan to go with 4:56 like Joey did just because I want a little more low end and knowing myself ill be going bigger than 38s next time. 4:30s are about as close as you can get to stock 3:73s with 38s.
If/when you get the truck slap shift kit on it, that's one of my favorite things I did. And also get a transmission gauge
Nope not yet still at war on price lol but we did come close to price yesterday and i sent some paperwork to credit union so now its awaiting game until credit union says yes or no if its yes im gonna try to knock it down one more time to get in price im happy with
I've got an 8" lift with 38's. She doesn't really like speeds between 45 & 53 because it dogs down when it shifts into overdrive. I want to get different gears but not sure yet which ones to get or what they cost
My 1995 CC/LB weighed 9200 lbs. and 5th gear was totally useless because at 75 MPH the engine was running just a bit shy of 1500 RPM (and 1995-1997 7.3L trucks don't do ANYTHING at that RPM).

Oh man! A geo would be intimidating to race at that point... I'd like to see a picture of that truck!

As I stated above with 38" tires and 4:30 gears its as close as you can get to factory tires and gears, 3:73s anyways. When I called around I was quoted roughly 2200 parts and labor plus fluids and that's the cheapest I found in my area. Right now were running the same setup. I'm opting to go with 4:56s because I don't drive my truck everyday anymore and I like torque plus I'm sure the next set of tires will be bigger
