Well, I noticed a noise this am and just wondered if anyone had any ideas what is could be. Seems to come from the right front wheel. It is a whining, higher pitched type noise. Does during braking or accelerating, while in gear or in nuetral or while in 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. I have warn manual hubs.
Could the hub being going bad? Any other ideas. I am going to pull the wheel off this evening and see if there is anything obvious.
Yeah, I was just thinking that it could be the bearings. I have never had the front hubs off this Bronco. Any hints or anything to worry about. Gonna look at em tonight.
Ok, I think I have figured it out. The grease seal on the inside of the hub is rubbing. I assume it has come partially unseated. I did not have the tool to do the removal of the hub but will plan to stop by my local auto parts store to pick it up. They have the seal and new bearings so I guess tonight or tomorrow I will just take it off, replace the bearings while I am in there and put it all back together. Hopefully that will take care of it.
