Trans problems

Well it seems the transmissions POOCHED. It feels like its binding especially in reverse, and makes a whining sound in park/neutral. I guessi will take it to the trans shop tomorrow and hope for the best

Ok took it to Halton Transmission in Milton Ontario, and they took it for a test drive. Tech said yeah somethings wrong here, at this point i had to leave to go to work. Phoned him after and he suspects the forward bands are not releasing. Was put on a hoist and it wasnt bad forward gears but when he shifted it into reverse it wouldnt move until they gave it some gas. So any ideas?

The intermediate one-way snap ring prob came off and everything is binding together.

The forward clutches are probably seized and welded together.

Once reverse is selected there is a different set of clutches applied and everything stops.

Well I guess I find out Monday...but something about the torrington bearing and breaking.....3200 bucks worth of breaking

Hmmm,..I had overdrive go out on my '04 5.4 at 90,000 miles.
They said they could fix only the broken snap ring, but he showed me the input shaft and it had about a 1/4 twist in it, so would probably only last about 10,000 miles. Got a complete rebuild for $2500 including all labor plus warranty, and that is So Cal prices,..might try to deal.
