Can't replace key cylinder 96 ranger

I've had my key cylinder prided out and a couple of other pieces. I did what the hayes manual said. It did work. I don't know if the actuator bar is 1 piece or 2. As it is now when i put it all togetheri turn to start. It pushes actuator down but doesn't engage. As i return to upright position only half the bar returns. It doesn't put the switch back to the spot. I'm starting it by the switch for now.
