I've been on the sidelines for awhile in the Excursion Forum but recently purchased a 2008 F-350 Crew SRW w/ 6.4 with 57k. The truck runs great just made a 1000 mile weekend trip but it has started to just shut off when you are stopped with your foot on the brake. Wrench sign shows in odometer.......engine starts on 3rd try and then may not occur for awhile.
Any ideas? I have warrenty left and also purchased a Ford Extended warrenty had a 2005 6.0 with issues prior to the Ex.
I had the Ford Dealer send me the shop report yesterday to see if the Fuel Filters were changed. Nothing listed so that is where I was headed 1st...... truck is used and of course no info. It only has 58k so is it to early for the EGR?
EGR's are not problematic unless you do an extreme amount of idleing in which case you should then high idle it.
EGR coolers is the other concern. You don't want them to leak. They are fine as long as you do the proper coolant maintance and don't let them run dry.
You can do the filters yourself if inclinded just be sure to use only OEM fuel and Oil filters on this truck.
