tsdrallyer - maybe you can help us out here? You seem to have found a way arround the the front shock issue. If I'm correct you say that you have the LLS and Bilstiens all the way arround. How did you do it?
Sorry if something I said mislead you. I have the 4 corner air suspension. HD Bilsteins on the rear only. I have been unable to find any except Ford shocks to replace the front air shocks.
The fronts are in need of replacing again, (happens every 35K miles) so I'd be happy to find something better, but the 4 corner air suspension may preclude that.
Thanks! are you getting yours at the stealer? I just bought our 98 and it has 92K on it. I doubt the shocks have ever been changed? Are you really changing yours every 35K?
Yes, I change the air shocks on the front every 30 to 35K miles because I use the X offroad and on road in competition, and I tow a 5K lb. travel trailer on and off road. I like to know I have good contact with the ground. If it bounces slightly, it's too much for me. It's a matter of safety.
Yes, I have my Ford dealer install them. I found one that stands behind their work.
The Bilsteins on the rear are amazing. No sigh of wear after about 80K miles!
