Angry No ventilation control

I have a 99 Expy and the manual vent control **** appears not to be working any longer. Air only comes out the defrost vents regardless of the **** position. Off does work, nothing from panel or floor. Comments please before I call the dealer with my issue.

If it's a vacuum hose should I get a check engine light / code and some rough idle? Any idea on accessing the control switch - from the glove compartment? It does turn off but will not direct air flow to anywhere except the windshield.

I never seen one kick out a code when they come off the back of the control console. Make sure the cables are tight and in the holder also.

Pull the control console out and see if something came off.

OK. I can see vac hoses and a cable by looking past the cup holder or the power outlet. How does the control panel come off? I'm handy but have no manual. Can you suggest any reference literature? Thanks

Turns out the problem was the ventilation control **** had shorted out - an $18.00 part. Did I mention the $250.00 labor to diagnose that. After eliminating electrical and vacuum issues the dealer dug into the dashboard to determine the vent control didn't actuate was it was supposed to. Repacing that part solved the problem. In hindsight mabe that should have been replaced earlier in the process. I like my Expy, but quality wise it's a piece of crap.
