1985 rear brake hose part number?

'85 4WD w/460 and load operated proportioning valve at the rear axle.
Anyone have a brand/model number for the hose? I've checked Advance Auto, O'reilly, Autozone and Napa and none list the correct hose, at least not based on the illustrations.
It looks like it uses a banjo bolt on both ends.

If push comes to shove I guess I can bypass the valve since the hose that was listed (that I bought) isn't the correct one for it.

I don't know if this appeals to you or not, but there is a hotrod way of making this line if I am reading your post correctly.

Home - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop has the parts to make this up.

First off is the banjo bolt 3/8 with 24 threads per inch or 7/16 with 20 threads per inch? If it's 3/8, they have part number 617-2911 for a an-3 line. They are $22 a pair and look like this;

They then have the an-3 line in various lengths. I picked a 12 inch line part number 910-31842. It's $10. Looks like this;

1985/86 F250 4WD ~ Two possible hoses, depends on the wheelbase.

E5TZ-2282-A .. Rear Brake Hose ~ Use with 133" - 153" - 168" wheelbases / Obsolete ~ 9 available NOS

E5TZ-2282-B .. Rear Brake Hose ~ Use with 137" - 161" wheelbases / Obsolete ~ 4 available NOS

Select the one that's correct, I'll edit the sources/phone numbers into this post.

Thanks.
Mine's a regular cab so I assume I need E5TZ-2282-A plus the banjo bolt PN where it bolts to the adjuster valve.

I just went out and looked at it again and see the axle vent hose that screws through one end is a rusted lump, so I could use the PN for that also.

To be sure it has a 133" wheelbase, it's printed on the Certification Label.

The vent passes thru the brass block that is made as part of the hose, then threads into the axle housing.

I'll be back later today with the info, been on FTE since 10:30 PDT last night, my 68 year old eyes are tired.

Hope you get the fuel tank selector valve fixed...I chimed into that thread, too.

Yup, 133" WB.
I just went out and, amazingly, was able to remove the axle breather fitting without breaking anything.
I had this image of it snapping off and having to drill it out.

Anyway, it just has a rubber hose clamped to it, so if I can find the fitting, I can get some hose.
The fitting appears to have a check valve. It was clogged with gunk, but after getting that out of both ends of the fitting, it seems like there's still something inside, I'm assuming a check valve.

On the brake hose, using the Ford PN I found one at the local O'Reilly's, it'll be here at 2 today. Thanks loads!

On the right (passenger) side inner frame rail is a bracket that the vent hose attaches to.

If the brake hose you bought from O'Reilly's turns out to be wrong.

E5TZ-2282-A =

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has ONE = 800-476-9653.

ANTIQUE AUTO SUPPLY in Arlington TX has ONE = 817-275-2381.

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has ONE = 607-722-5371.

HIGH BUCK!! BOB ALLEN FORD in Overland Park KS has TWO = 800-676-0675.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has FOUR = 800-543-4959.

Thanks. The one from O'reilly is correct, just not listed for the truck.
Would you happen to have the PN for the banjo bolt that attaches it to the proportioning valve?

I found the breather fitting, E7TZ-4022A.

Looks like it could be:

E7TZ-4022-A VENT (REAR AXLE HOUSING) 7/16" - 20 x 2 1/32"
Fits 1980/88 trucks & vans with the Sterling rear axle built before 1/88

Text Sec 41 pg 14, Illustration Sec 20 Pg 4

Green Sales Company (listed above) has 4 of them.

Thanks, I found those, but in fact mine came out without problems.

What I need is the banjo bolt for the brake line for the end that attaches to the proportioning valve.
It's 3/8" by something. I'm hoping it's 3/8 x 24 like the front caliper banjo bolt.

The parts catalog is too generic in its illustrations and descriptions for me to find what you're talking about.

It sounds to me like you're asking for a hose that has two, um, ~half-a-flashcube-sized brass blocks on both ends, and both ends use banjo bolts.

I looked in the Rock Auto catalog and can't find any such hose for your year truck, and the parts catalog doesn't show anything like that but the catalog is pretty generic and is intended only to give a general idea, and doesn't provide exact representations of unique parts.

That being said, upload some pictures cuz I think I'm confused by things....

Locations F & G in above pic:

385116-S2 .. 'Banjo' Bolt ~ 3/8" -24 x 1 1/8" (National Fine Thread) has a thru hole (shown in Standard Parts Catalog) above the threads.

Available from Ford ~ MSRP: $5.40 / But if a dealer doesn't stock it, it'll have to be special ordered, comes in a package of two (MSRP: $10.80).

Standard (hardware) part numbers shown in pics do not include the complete suffix (if there is more than just the S). I have a Standard Parts Catalog, so I looked the puppy up in it.

Here's the hose, BH38339

The right end is the split for the right and left wheels, the hole in the block is what the breather goes through to screw in to the axle tube.
The left end is the block for that has the port for the banjo bolt (the PN I'm looking for).

Here's the valve

Great, exactly what I wanted to hear, the same as the caliper banjo bolts.
(Actually a bit shorter but I can make it work I think)
I picked up an extra one at NAPA for $3.69, just in case they were the same.
