Was my grandfathers. Everything should still work. I'm 34 and its been around as long as i can remember. I never use it, but has sentimental value. I would sell if worth enough, put money toward his truck. I saw one on ebay for $400. That can't be right.
I have a similar one, a bit rougher. Missing the glass guards. Still spins up and spins down smooth and takes a long time to stop. I'd put it at $20 for a garage sale item. It's a Sears--millions served. A new 1/2 hp Craftsman is $180.
That's a nice one in good shape. If you are never going to use it, try to get $100 for it.
Use it!!!!! that is 10x better machine than the offshore junk you buy at Sears now.
I have one just like it I use everyday. You can't kill those old tools. I would date it as late '60's vintage.....

I probably should, but i literally never use it.
Just sold for 50. Guy is restoring and themeing his garage. Its set for years, literally. I'm glad to see someone with a joy for old tools have it.

its cool that it went to someone with a joy for old tools...
but man- i can't even TELL you how often i use mine when working on my old rigs. in my whole garage, its probably the second-most-often used tool- right behind my voltmeter.
it just needs a wire wheel on one side- the best cleaning implement ever made.

Hate to be a nay sayer but over the years you will replace it 10 fold, and never once find an equal. Not that a HF wont shine your TIG stikz when you get there, but. You will get no WOW's from garage company that is for sure!! Just try and hold a conversation about a HF tool "I dare you"
