add OD tranny

I have a 1981 1/2 ton with a C-4 and 302, and I got an OD tranny from an 80's model Ford car that I would like to install to help the gas mileage. There are four wires coming out of the OD tranny. How do I wire this thing up?

Could they be back-up lights and neutral safety wires?

That's sounds very possible, but where do I connect them?
