Several things here I would appreciate some insight to. I have been reading posts looking for answers, but so far I haven't found anything specific.

1) Sometimes, glow plugs don't stay on long or not at all. Other times, the glow plug light will come on while engine is all warmed up driving down the street.

2) Fuel gauge doesn't work for either tank. Gauge never moves, always on Empty.

3) Climate control has a microswitch with a red wire, a yellow wire, and a purple wire that go to it. My switch was broken when I got the truck so I need to know which wire goes to which prong.

4) neither turn signal light works on the dash, but the signals work fine where it counts.

5) Where can I find a new VRV? The kid at autozone swears the part doesn't exist even when I showed it to him.

This makes it easier to read, and easier for others to respond to (quote) just a single question if they so choose.

 

If you have the old controller system that screws into the back of the engine block, those are notorious for going bad and burning your glowplugs up.

The sending units are also notorious for going bad on these trucks. You will have to take them out to test them, but i bet one went bad and the previous owner didn't fix it, and then the other one went bad after that.

Where is this switch located on the truck?

I would suspect corroded connections at the cluster where the bulbs plug in, or a connection problem at the cluster plug.

Ford dealer used to carry these.
