After finally getting my idle to work I have a new problem. Out of nowhere when I am at idle and put on any load (AC, Lights, etc) the power will completely die out. All lights, atart everything. This can last from a second or 2 to several seconds. Once it died at idle at an intersection. For Aerostar, 4.0L 2WD.
After I got it started and parked it. I could duplicate it at will. Just start the car and put on anything electrical and poof all power gone. Then either right away or a few seconds later theyed be back.
After a litlle while the problem would go away and I could not get it to do it again. I got home and tried to get it to happen while I had a multimeter on the battery so I could see if the battery was somehow at fault, but could not get it to do it.
This is a come and go problem and I am scared that it will happen again while at an intersection. Without power, no emergency flashers.
check all the electrical connection plugs, one may be not locked in but look like it is. I had the one in the liddle of the firewall do this and I had no dash gauges at all at times. It looked to be connected but wasn't "locked" in place together.
I have done exactly that. I removed every cover and plate, pushed shoved, cleaned, etc... So far it has not happened again, but I am very nervous because I found no smoking gun.
I replaced starter, solinoid, relay, cleaned all connections, put on di-electric coating. I did not unwrap the fusable links. If the problem happens again, they are next.
