Carbs

I bought a Holley 650 for my 79 Ford F150 351M last year, and it has yet to see the highway. Turned out, the engine had unforeseen issues, and had to be rebuilt. While shopping for a carb last year, I read a lot of articles that people were talking about the Edelbrock being better on mpg's. I bought the Holley instead, and I'll tell you why in a minute. I found a 1978 Ford Bronco a few weeks ago, with a rebuilt 400 engine and tranny, with 0 miles on them. I bought it and made the swap. Had to take the tranny apart and swap the output shaft for the one that was in my truck. The Bronco came with a new Edelbrock on it. Here is the thing though. All the Edelbrocks that I looked at last year, and also this one that I bought with the Bronco, neither of them had the piece on the side of the carb to operate the kickdown. What is the solution for that? Because if there is one, I believe, that I would definately go with the Edelbrock. As it is though, I had to buy the Holley last year, so that I would be able to operate the kickdown.
