C8AE-H's came on std 428's ( non- CJ/SCJ motors) I hope they've been running it with lead substitute otherwise the valves have probably been hammered into the heads. The 390 in my 68 Monterey has multiple belt pulleys ( 3 I think)
guys
managed to pull some #s of the intake today. ill have a stroke measurement within a few days. Here are the #s on the MANIFOLD:
C7TE 9425F (i know this is a 67 something?)
also
a large "T" then the #s 7H21
any more ideas??
one other thing, this engine has a strange 2bbl carb....it looks antique! LOL the best way I can describe it is.....tall....and yes, i looked for #s or a tag and there are none!
Thanks

no it doesnt have a governor. Matter of fact, the governor is run seperately via a fan belt. its funny bec the alternator is a 3 pulley setup. I should take pics of this thing but i dont have a digitial camera.
Moreover, the carb is NOT set up for propane; it is a 2V gas unit all the way.....

Sounds like someone swapped out the original HD ( FT) truck motor the chipper had and replaced it with a std FE from a car and dressed it in the truck accessories.
OK
took me a while to do it, but i did the good ole dowel check to verify stroke. I measured a rough 3.25 inches between TDC and the bottom of the stroke. does this help??
thanks

I put 12'' piece of dowel in the #1 cyl and i rotated the crank until the piece of dowel didnt move upward anymore. I then Scribed a line on the piece of dowel. Then I carefully turned the crank with a socket until the dowel went all the way into the cylinder. I watched until it wouldnt fall anymore. At that point, I scribed another line. Then I Took my trusty tape measure and measured the distance, I did it twice and i came up with roughly 3.25 inches. Maybe I did it wrong but thats how i thought you had to do it. If it IS a 330 block as Gtex said, is that a junk block?? What yrs were they made and what applications were they in??
Thanks guys for all the help!

I'd try that stroke test again. Rotate the damper to TDC on the pointer, shove the stick down #1 making sure it's parallel with the bore, mark the stick with reference to the top of the spark plug hole. Now take the stick and shove it down #4 and make another mark. Measure the distance between the two marks, this should get you close.
A 330 has the same stroke as a 352 but with a tiny bore of 3.87".
Barry they are callin for serious rain here so the soonest i can do the stroke test is early next week. Ill post back with what i find! Thanks again for all the help and advice!
