Im told you are the guy to ask about split rims. I have an 6 bolt international 1 ton dually running gear and would like to do away with the split rims. Is there any rims off of another vehicle that will fit this bolt pattern?
the guy's here tell me there are 17.5 tubeless rims out there ..but what I have done is get motor-home rims ..19.5 and have my centers welded in I now have good wheels better tires on my truck for a lot less then trying to put an odd ball size rim and tire on ..don't try Stocton the wheels they make are not offset ..and stupid heavy ..it cost me 65 bucks a wheel to have them welded ..and 200 bucks for 6 rims off the motorhome ..not vintage correct but I can drive my truck safely now ..I hope this helps ..
Yeah, Ken found a home remedy way to get what he was after (if you don't count the Stockton Wheel side trip). It probably won't be the same set of variables for you since he started with 17" widow makers and found that the centers fit cleanly into 19.5" tubeless drop center outer rims. He trusts his welder to keep the insurance man away, so he's happy.
I'm gonna guess that you have a 130 model, either an L,R,S,A, or B. These would have come with 16" DRWs having Goodyear lock ring outer rims. There's nothing wrong with continuing to use them, but I understand the desire for tubeless wheels. All would have the 6 lug x 7.25" bolt pattern and, at least within the range of models I listed, a single nut mounting design called an "in/out coined" system.
The wheels that fit this description are 17.5" x 5.25" Budd Company products, either part number 71320 or 79120. The National Wheel and Rim Association cross reference number for them is X45057. The only difference between the two part numbers is the first one has six hand holes while the second one has three. They were first offered in 1956 and were used by Ford through 1966, Dodge through 1968, Studebaker through 1963/4 end of production, and IHC through 1968. One of our members has had a set of six for sale, but I don't recall whether they are still available. If I've made good assumptions about your truck model and era, I'll see if I can help track some down for you if you want. Stu
Edit - don't expect to find a 19.5" motor home outer rim that will accept a 16" center disc. If you want to look into custom wheels, I'd recommend American Wheel Specialist of Pasco, WA. It's a reputable company that has the equipment to do this commercially. It could be that they could use your 16" centers and remount them into 17.5" outer rims. Stu

Stu, what about these wheels that Bigwin posted about the other day?

No sir. F-600 wheels have 6 x 8.75" bolt pattern. GB Sisson is the one who had a set available for a while, but I've sent a number of folks his direction about them so they might be gone. Thundersnow70 also has a source at his "top secret" yard, so that might be another avenue. Stu
Thanks truckdog I was told you were the split rim guru and you live up to the hype I don't know the specifics on my drive train but what you have told mewwill at least give me somewhere to start thanks again!

the only problem on my end is that i would need the money up front and they wont come cheap. plus there are only four and im guessing he needs six. and while we are giving Stu the old ataboy, i will again say thanks for all your help and answers to my many questions.
So I still have my 17" WM's Should I keep them around for the centers?
Take the centers out and, of course, scrap the rest?
I guess, if I was keeping my F3 original, I personally would pay the extra money to keep the original centers/hubcaps. Do any of these alternative wheels have the inner nubs? for the hubcaps?

Jeff - guys who keep their stock axles can get rid of their WMs by finding tubeless 17.5s or 19.5s which clear 14" rear drums on the 48-51 trucks. These use stock caps. Guys with 12" drums on late 51/52s can use the stock 16" F-2/F-250 wheels that also accept stock caps. Custom wheels using stock centers and 17" tubeless rims are another option, but cost then is an issue. Stu

So I won't waste my time grinding out rivets.
Thanks Stu!
Another thing, even though it's possible to use the stock centers to make custom 17" wheels, we've only heard of it being done one time. There's no shortage of donor centers, and it's gotta be the most expensive of the remedies. Stu
