hard downshift from OD
I posted this on the tranny forum but figured this site one gets more traffic. When my truck downshifts from OD to drive, it does so really hard. It only does this on the downshift from OD and any other downshift or upshift is normal. It used to do this occaisonally but not it does it more often. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them and if there were any cheap remedies out there. The tran fluid was changed when it first started but didn't affect it at all. I can downshift manually with the shifter and it doesn't do it as long as I let off the gas a little on the shift. This comes in handy when coming up on a hill while in OD. I'm not sure which trans. is in it. I looked on the tag on the rear but couldn't decipher anything.
Anybody ever experience this or have any suggestions?

D Ray, my truck does the same thing(for at least 5 years now). I took it to the tranny shop twice, and they say that as long as the TV cable is properly adjusted you're OK and that the AOD is one of the best tranny's out there. I only use the OD on the highway now.

Yeah, I seldom use OD unless I am doing 60 mph or better. Turning 35x12.50s with a 3.55 rear end I really don't need it unless I'm on the interstate. I was just wondering if there was some sort of easy quick fix for that little problem. I can't complain, it has turned those 35s for 130k miles now.
