For my tired 390, I was thinking I'd might as well get new spark plug wires when I get new spark plugs. What I'm unsure about is the idea of just hooking up new wires on the distributor...would the new wires somehow strain the other, older electrical parts? Or am I thinking backwards on this...
Anyways, what would some of you suggest for spark plugs (brands) and/or wires? Is it possible to just straight buy 8 plug wires by themselves?
Thanks Freightrain! Exactly what I wanted to find out. And yeah my current wires are mis-matched and whatnot, at least they seem to be, because some ends are different.
Plus a couple barely make any contact and look like they could fall off from normal engine movement. I'm thinking my occasional backfire may have something to do with that (but I'm not counting on it, that'd be too simple a problem, right? haha).
Those were my thoughts initially, and I'll end up doing that in the future. For now I'll just do this little tune up with the money I have and get a job in the summer. Thanks for the input
