NO reverse when on incline

Have a friend with a 6.0 with some transmission problems. He states that if he is on an incline, reverse will not engage. From what I understand doesnt matter whether front is up or down. But works OK when on level ground.

States transmission fluid is at correct level.

Any ideas on the cause. Curious

Maybe he doesn't know how to check the fluid level. Either the fluid is low or something is wrong with the internal filter.

No reverse - no fluid. Reverse reappeared now OK. ??
