I have a 2001 E450 Super Duty Triton V10 Motorhome. It sat for about a week. I tried to start it and it would just turn over. I checked the schraeder valve on the fuel rail-nothing. I checked the fuel pump shut off swith-it was not tripped, check it with ohm meter and it tested okay. Check fuses and they were all good. So I replaced the fuel pump and filter. Still no fuel to engine. I then replaced the relay. Still nothing.
I tested voltage at fuel cut off swith. Key on it read 6.5 then slowly crept up to 8.0 then dropped back to 6.5.
Checked voltage at relay. Key on, 11.8 on one terminal and nothing on the other three. Tried starting, still nothing on the other three terminals. I have looked around and dont see any loose or broken wires, connections etc. Any suggestions?
Jump terminal 30 to 87 at relay plug and see if it starts . You should have battery voltage at Inerta switch for a few seconds at key on . And at crank . 8 volts is a voltage drop . Could be a bad relay . If you jump it and it runs wiring to pump is ok . Then ck relay and ground and on feed to relay .
Thanks for the reply. I installed a jumper between 30 and 87, no start! Does inertia switch get power before or after relay?
After relay , I am almost positive . Don't have a wiring diag , but I think my memory is correct . Find wire to pump at switch plug . Jump ( fused ) power to pump there and see if pump runs . Sounds like voltage drop to me . If it runs with power at switch plug , problem is before switch . Wiring issue likley . If pump still does not run , ck wiring to pump .
The pigtail lead from chassis wiring to fuel pump is another potential source of this same sort of problem. I'd check for battery voltage at this connection too---can't hurt.
