1985 ford diesel 4x4 non runner what do you all think of this one. it would be a project and i dont know what is wrong with it. anything i should look for?
she would be far more than a project.a complete resto that one would turn into.
most likely rotted out floor and might have a tender frame.check it all out and if the plow works and if you can get her running for cheap, you'd have a decent farm/yard truck but not sure she'd ever be worth investing the $ to put it safely back on the road again.it might still be decent underneath still but you'd have to check it out good.if she doesn't have a decent foundation though, just keep looking.plenty of old ford diesel project trucks out there.
What is the price? If it's only two or three hundred it couldn't hurt to go look at it. Obviously the bed's wasted. If the frame is in good shape and the cab savable you probably couldn't lose in taking a shot. If it's no good you'd make that money back in parts and scrap. If it runs and moves you're money ahead.
Who knows? I've rescued junk vehicles myself, but you have to have a good starting point and that rust on that bed doesn't bode well.
Obviously she wasn't very well cared for, or at all for that matter.
if it is drit cheap it would be ok to tinker with. it is a plow truck I would bet that the four wheel drive needs rebuild, you probbly have to replace the break lines.
its honestly up to you, if I wanted a beater to mud and trash that might be a good one.
If you want a toy with lots of power, find a 460 with a bad engain, you could rebuild it and put the good aftermaket parts in it for about the same as a stock 7.3 rebuild.
